Santos accepted a check in the amount of $5,475 from SM Energy representatives.<\/p>\n<p>David Canales, the executive director for middle school instruction says they are very fortunate that SM Energy provided a check to help them with the STEM program.<\/p>\n<p>The money will go towards helping middle school kids to get more exposure in the science and math field.<\/p>\n<p>UISD also wants to prepare its students for future careers and embracing the 21st century skills.<\/p>\n<p>The district is also thinking about using the money to help kids through supplies equipment and robotics.<\/p>\n<p>Canales says, \u201cWe&#8217;re just very grateful for SM Energy for considering us as their educational partner where we can build our future and our kids.\u201d<br \/>\nSM Energy is committed to investing in the communities that they work and live in.<\/p>\n<p>The original story may be found on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kgns.tv\/content\/news\/SM-energy-donation--470950443.html\">KGNS website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) &#8211;\u00a0The UISD superintendent of schools Roberto J.
