According to data from the Texas Workforce Commission, the sector added 4,300 jobs in March \u2013 the largest single month-over-month gain since the summer of 2011.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The upstream sector has added 12,000 jobs since the low point in September 2020, bringing the total upstream employment in Texas to 169,700 upstream jobs \u2013 jobs that pay among the highest wages in Texas. Five of the past 6 months have showed jobs gains in Texas\u2019 upstream oil and natural gas sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"861\" height=\"664\" class=\"wp-image-6015\" style=\"width: 500px\" src=\"https:\/\/txogamsn.txoga.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/04\/March2021-jobs-chart.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/txogamsn.txoga.org\/steer\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/04\/March2021-jobs-chart.jpg 861w, https:\/\/txogamsn.txoga.org\/steer\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/04\/March2021-jobs-chart-300x231.jpg 300w, https:\/\/txogamsn.txoga.org\/steer\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/04\/March2021-jobs-chart-768x592.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 861px) 100vw, 861px\" \/><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAs our state continues to recover economically from the effects of the COVID-19 global pandemic, continued gains in the upstream sector of the Texas oil and natural gas industry are another sign that life is getting back to normal for many Texans,\u201d said Todd Staples, president of the Texas Oil &amp; Gas Association. \u201cOil and natural gas will continue to play an essential role in environmental progress and the energy and economic strength of Texas, providing power, products, high-paying jobs and billions in government revenues for decades to come.
